Photography as an adventure, a special encounter with Massimo Sestini, master of aerial photography and one of the most renowned Italian photojournalists on the international stage.

The event will be hosted by Roberto De Ponti, editor of Corriere Fiorentino, and will be introduced by the journalist and writer Benedetto Ferrara.

From images shot from helicopters to dives beneath the ice, from major Italian news stories to scoops that have travelled around the world, Sestini reveals how a photograph is born when everything seems impossible. A journey through behind-the-scenes stories, technique, and the lives encountered along the way.

The event is free of charge and is organized in collaboration with Bibbona LAB, on the occasion of the solo exhibition “Beaches. High-Altitude Art” at the Forte dei Cavalleggeri in Marina di Bibbona.

Massimo Sestini has captured some of the most iconic images of the past forty years, from aerial photos of the Falcone and Borsellino attacks to the tragedy of the Costa Concordia. In 2015, he won the World Press Photo with his celebrated image of the migrant crisis, which later inspired the “Where Are You” project for National Geographic.

A unique opportunity to hear from him directly how to craft a gaze capable of transforming limits into vision.
