The Performance

The Xenia Chamber Music Course continues its journey in Florence at Teatro Niccolini, where selected ensembles come together for several days of intensive work on their repertoire before bringing the results of this shared experience to the stage.

The event will feature four young musicians from Italy and the Netherlands: Akiko Scimemi and Margriet van den Hoven on violin, Magali Duindam on viola and Virginia Bosio on cello.

The programme brings together two major works from the string quartet repertoire: Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 59 No. 3 and Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet Op. 12. Two works from different periods and with different musical sensibilities, connected by the young Mendelssohn’s deep engagement with Beethoven’s musical legacy.

The event will be guided by Igor Polesitsky, Xenia faculty member, and Daniel Llewellyn Roberts, Artistic Director of Xenia, offering the audience a closer look at the music and at the work of the young performers.

More than a concert, this is an opportunity to discover the world of chamber music from within and to meet a new generation of musicians up close.

Free admission with advance booking required.
