COB Compagnia Opus Ballet celebrates William Shakespeare with its interpretation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The choreographic project is entrusted to Davide Bombana, with lighting design by Carlo Cerri and costumes by Ermanno Scervino.
Bombana’s Dream unfolds as an increasingly intense and captivating whirlwind of events and romantic entanglements.
“The starting point for my version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the figure of Hermia, a young woman who refuses a marriage imposed on her by her family, rebelling fiercely against every kind of convention. Her nighttime escape into the woods becomes a disturbing journey into the unconscious of four young people opening themselves to love.
Their surging desire becomes intertwined with the story of Oberon and Titania, king and queen of the fairy world, and Puck, an unsettling sprite who delights in creating chaos among the characters with the help of a magical flower. Meanwhile, three eccentric figures wander through the woods preparing a bizarre performance, providing an earthy counterpoint to the story.
What follows is an almost frenzied whirlwind of romantic entanglements, some conscious, some not, all of them unexpected and bizarre.”

Davide Bombana dedicates his Dream to Silvia Poletti, who passed away in 2024. A tribute to her memory as a critic of great knowledge and sensitivity, and as a person whose extraordinary enthusiasm and love for our art form left a lasting mark.
