RZEWSKI: The People United Will Never Be Defeated!

With a repertoire ranging from Bach to the music of our time, Emanuele Arciuli is a regular guest at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals, orchestras and musical institutions, including the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Rotterdam Philharmonic, MDR Leipzig, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, St Petersburg Philharmonic, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Unione Musicale di Torino, IUC in Rome, Bologna Festival, Venice Biennale, MITO, Wien Modern, Berliner Festwochen and REDCAT in Los Angeles.

He has also collaborated with conductors including Roberto Abbado, John Axelrod, Andrei Boreyko, Dennis Russell Davies, Diego Fasolis, Wayne Marshall, James MacMillan, Pinchas Steinberg, Juraj Valchua and many others. He also performs regularly with actress Sonia Bergamasco.

Equally at ease as a soloist with orchestra, in recital and in chamber music, Emanuele Arciuli is regarded as one of the leading interpreters of twentieth and twenty-first century music, with a particular focus on American composers. More than fifty works have been written for him by composers including George Crumb, Milton Babbitt, Frederic Rzewski, Michael Nyman, Michael Daugherty and John Luther Adams.

He has recorded for Naxos, Stradivarius, Wergo, Albany, Innova, Vai and Chandos, among others. Many of his recording projects are devoted to American composers, including the recent The Time Curve Preludes by Duckworth for Neuma, ’round Midnight: Homage to Thelonious Monk for Stradivarius, acclaimed by international critics, and Walk in Beauty for Innova Recordings, a wide-ranging anthology of American music that received a Grammy Award nomination, following an earlier nomination for his Bridge recording dedicated to Crumb.

He has written several books, including Musica per pianoforte negli Stati Uniti for EDT, the pamphlet La bellezza della nuova musica for Dedalo and the recent Viaggio in America for Curci.

In 2011, he received the “Franco Abbiati” Prize from the Italian music critics as Best Soloist of the Year. Since September 2023, he has been a full member of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
